QUIET ARCHITECTURE FOR EXTREME LIGHT.

Central Texas light is unforgiving. Unchecked, it glares off drywall and overheats glass boxes. When disciplined through deep roof overhangs, thick thermal mass walls, and recessed courtyard apertures, that same sunlight becomes the primary building material of a calm home.

At Vantage & Vale, architecture and interior architecture are never separated into hand-offs. A single senior partner team controls the site strategy, structural grid, millwork joinery, hardware, and acoustic stillness from initial topographic survey to final key handover.

BALCONES LIMESTONE PAVILION

GROUND-UP RESIDENCE & INTERIORS

Anchored into a steep limestone shelf above Lake Austin, two parallel cast-in-place concrete beams frame a central shaded dogtrot and lap pool, shielding the western elevation from late-summer thermal gain while opening views across the canyon canopy.

ADAPTIVE REUSE & COURTYARD INSERTION

A 1938 brick machine warehouse converted into a private residence and gallery. We removed the center bay of the bowstring truss roof to carve an open-air rain courtyard, inserting blackened steel, reclaimed Douglas fir, and acoustic plaster volumes within the historic masonry shell.

OFF-GRID RANCH ARCHITECTURE & SITE STRATEGY

Three low-slung pavilions arranged around a 200-year-old live oak grove in the Texas Hill Country. Built with rammed earth walls, standing-seam weathered zinc roofs, and a 30,000-gallon subterranean rainwater cistern integrated into the foundation plinth.

FULL ARCHITECTURE & CUSTOM MILLWORK

Designed for an art collector seeking acoustic sanctuary on an urban infill lot. A monolithic street facade of hand-troweled lime plaster conceals a bright interior perimeter gallery wrapped around a tranquil reflecting basin and Japanese maple garden.

04 / METHODOLOGY & GOVERNANCE

FOUR PHASES OF RIGOR.

PHASE 01 // WEEKS 01–06

Site Strategy & Feasibility

Before drawing a floor plan, we analyze solar path, prevailing Gulf breezes, heritage tree root zones, impervious cover limits, and early cost modeling with trusted Central Texas builders so budget and ambition align from day one.

PHASE 02 // WEEKS 07–18

Architectural & Spatial Massing

We test physical study models and full-sunlight digital simulations to lock structural grids, ceiling datums, and sightlines. Interior architecture is developed simultaneously so lighting, cabinetry, and stone slabs are integral to the structure.

PHASE 03 // WEEKS 19–34

Technical Detailing & Spec

We produce exhaustive 1:5 construction documents detailing every reveal, waterproofing membrane, shadow gap, and custom bronze hardware assembly—eliminating contractor guesswork and protecting your fixed-price bid accuracy.

PHASE 04 // CONSTRUCTION

Field Observation & Curation

Our founding partners walk the site weekly alongside the superintendent, reviewing concrete pour mockups, timber grain matching, and glazing tolerances until the finished building reads with the quiet precision of a monograph plate.

05 / COMMISSION PARAMETERS

MAXIMUM ACTIVE COMMISSIONS PER YEAR

By capping our studio workload at six active residences or adaptive reuse projects annually, both founding partners remain directly accountable for every drawing sheet and site meeting on your project.
